Diagnosis
Hypoxia
The doctor will perform a physical examination, and other tests may be performed
to pinpoint the cause of hypoxia. Tests may include:
- Magnetic resonance imaging
(MRI scan)
An MRI scan produces two- and three-dimensional images of the inside of
the body.
- Echocardiogram
An echocardiogram shows the shape, size, and motion of the heart.
- Electrocardiogram
(ECG or EKG)
An EKG will indicate if the patient has had a recent heart attack or
other heart conditions.
- Blood tests
- Electroencephalogram (EEG)
An EEG is used to evaluate brain function or determine brain death.
- Evoked
Potentials
This test determines if sensations, such as smell and touch, reach
the brain and cause a response.
